From the high-altitude Indo-China border to the iconic Kanchenjunga sunrise at Tiger Hill, every moment is designed for the modern adventurer.
Day 01: The Climb to the Clouds in Gangtok
Your adventure begins at Bagdogra Airport. After arriving by 2:00 pm, you will embark on a scenic 130 km drive into the mountains. The journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, climbing to an elevation of 5,412 feet as you reach the vibrant city of Gangtok.
- Evening Activity: Check into your hotel and enjoy a warm dinner.
- Stay: Gangtok.
Traveler’s Note: The Scenic Ascent
The drive to Gangtok offers incredible mountain views, but the winding roads can be intense. Grab a window seat and keep some ginger candy handy for the climb!
Day 02: High Altitudes and the Indo-China Border
Prepare for a full-day excursion to some of the most restricted and beautiful sites in Sikkim. You will visit the glacial Tshangu Lake, sitting at a staggering 12,400 feet. The journey continues to the New Baba Mandir and the famous Nathula Pass tour, the legendary border between India and China.
- Key Sight: Nathula Pass at 14,137 feet.
- Historical Stop: New Baba Mandir.
Pro-Tip: Border Dining
Dining facilities at Nathula Pass are limited, so lunch is not included in the package. We recommend carrying snacks or purchasing local food at the available stalls directly.
Day 03: From Gangtok’s Monasteries to Darjeeling’s Charm
Start your day with a morning of Gangtok sightseeing. You will visit Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, and Hanuman Tok for breathtaking panoramas. After exploring the local monastery and plant conservatory, we transfer to Darjeeling, the “Queen of Hills”.
- Drive: 110 km (approximately 4 to 5 hours).
- Stay: Darjeeling.
Traveler’s Note: Sightseeing Prep
Most Gangtok viewpoints require short walks or stair climbs. Wear comfortable shoes to enjoy the views from the “Toks” without getting tired.
Day 04: Sunrise Over the Third Highest Peak
Wake up at 4:00 am for the experience of a lifetime at Tiger Hill. If the weather is clear, you will watch the sun rise over the mighty Kanchendzonga, the third-highest peak in the world. After a late breakfast, dive into a half-day exploration of Darjeeling’s colonial and natural history.
Highlights of Darjeeling
- Sunrise: Tiger Hill (8,482 feet).
- Culture: Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda.
- Adventure: Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park.
- Scenic: Panoramic tour of a local Tea Estate.
Pro-Tip: The Joy Train
For a truly nostalgic experience, ask our manager about the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) Joy Ride. This optional 1.45-hour ride costs approximately Rs. 1,500 and is subject to ticket availability.
Day 05: Tea Gardens and Nepal Border Shopping
Leaving the high peaks behind, we head to Siliguri. The drive includes a stop at Mirik Lake, surrounded by lush tea gardens. We then proceed to Pashupati Nagar at the Indo-Nepal border, a popular hub for duty-free shopping.
- Shopping: Visit the Indo-Nepal border market.
- Stay: Siliguri.
Pro-Tip: Crossing the Border
Our vehicle stops at the Indian side of the gate. You can enjoy a 2 km walk to the market or hire a local Nepalese taxi for approximately INR 400 to 500 one way.
