Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu & Yatra Briefing
Welcome to Nepal

Your sacred journey begins the moment you touch down at the Kathmandu International Airport (1300m). Our representative will warmly greet and assist you through customs. We will then transfer you to the premium Hotel Ramada by Wyndham or Western Plus for check-in. In the evening, before dinner, join us for a short but essential briefing about the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. You will spend the night resting comfortably at your Kathmandu hotel.

Traveler’s Note: Hydrate well on your flight and get plenty of rest tonight! Your body needs to prepare for the gradual ascent into the Himalayas.

Day 2: Exploring the Spiritual Heart of Kathmandu
Kathmandu City Sightseeing Tour

After a delicious breakfast, immerse yourself in a city sightseeing tour. We will visit the highly revered Pasupatinath Temple and the breathtaking Bouddhanath Stupa, a World Heritage site. Our spiritual exploration continues to the Jala Narayan Temple to see the sleeping Vishnu, followed by a visit to the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square to witness the Living God Kumari. Later, we drive back to the hotel for packing and final Yatra preparations. Enjoy your overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Pro-Tip: Use this day to double-check your gear and purchase any last-minute essentials like extra snacks or batteries in Kathmandu’s vibrant Thamel district.

Day 3: The Overland Ascent to Kyirung
Drive into the Mountains

Our representative will pick you up as we begin the 145 Km drive to Kyirung (1600m), which takes about 5 to 6 hours. Enjoy the shifting landscapes as we leave the valley and ascend toward the border. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your basic hotel for check-in. You will spend the night at the Kyirung Guest house.

Traveler’s Note: Keep your passport and important documents easily accessible in your day pack, as we are nearing the border crossing for tomorrow!

Day 4: Crossing into Tibet – Gyirung County
Border Formalities

Following breakfast, we will complete the necessary immigration and custom formalities on both the Nepal and China sides of the border. We then continue our drive for 35 Km (about 1 hour) to Gyirung County, situated at 2800m. We will transfer you to your basic hotel for an overnight stay.

Pro-Tip: Patience is key today! Border crossings can take time, so carry a good book or download some calming music to enjoy during the wait.

Day 5: Crucial Acclimatization in Gyirung
Adjusting to the Altitude

Today is entirely dedicated to helping your body acclimatize to the 2800m elevation. After breakfast, you are completely free to visit the surrounding areas of Gyirung county or do some light shopping. You will spend another night at your Gyirung hotel.

Traveler’s Note: Do not overexert yourself today. Drink plenty of water, stay calm, and avoid strenuous exercise to prevent altitude sickness.

Day 6: The Vast Tibetan Plateau to Saga
Crossing the Brahmaputra River

Prepare for a stunning 270 Km drive (taking 6 to 7 hours) to Saga (4500m). We will cross the magnificent Brahmaputra River along the way. Upon arriving in Saga, we will check into the hotel for a well-deserved overnight stay.

Pro-Tip: The landscapes today are incredibly vast and beautiful. Keep your camera ready, but also take moments to simply absorb the profound silence of the Tibetan plateau.

Day 7: First Glimpse of the Holy Lake
Drive to Lake Mansarovar

After breakfast, we embark on a 470 Km drive (taking 8 to 9 hours) toward the sacred Mansarovar Lake (4550m). Once we arrive, we will transfer you to the Pramath Asram guest house for check-in. Rest well during your overnight stay right by the lake.

Traveler’s Note: The wind near the lake can be piercingly cold. Ensure you have your Gore-Tex windbreaker or warm down jacket easily accessible when you step out of the vehicle.

Day 8: Divine Cleansing & Proceeding to Darchen
Mansarovar Parikrama & Holy Bath

Today holds immense spiritual significance. We will complete the Parikrama of Mansarovar Lake by vehicle, covering 102 Km in about 3 hours. You will have the opportunity to take a holy bath and perform Puja (prayer rituals and Homa) at the lake. Afterward, we continue our drive for 58 Km (1.5 hours) to Darchen (4600m), where we will check into a basic hotel for the night.

Pro-Tip: Bring a strong water bottle to safely collect some of the holy water from Mansarovar to take back home.

Day 9: The Kora Begins – Trek to Diraphuk
Yamdwar Darshan & The North Face

After a hearty breakfast, we take a short drive to visit Yama Dwar, the official starting point of the Mt Kailash Parikrama. From here, we begin our 12 Km trek (taking 7 to 8 hours) to Diraphuk (4860m). You will trek past the west face of Mt. Kailash and eventually witness the awe-inspiring North face. We will check into a basic hotel in Diraphuk for the night.

Traveler’s Note: Walk at a slow, steady pace. Listen to your body and rely on your walking stick to maintain your rhythm during this first day of the Kora.

Day 10: Conquering Dolma-La Pass
The Toughest Challenge to Zutalphuk

Prepare for the most demanding day of the Yatra. We will trek 22 Km (taking up to 12 hours) from Diraphuk, ascending to the Dolma-La Pass at a staggering 5630m. From the pass, we will descend to Gaurikund and follow the river all the way to Zutalphuk (4600m). We will check into our hotel upon arrival for a hard-earned rest.

Pro-Tip: Keep an energy-boosting stash of chocolates, dry fruits, and toffees in your pockets to keep your stamina up during the steep ascent to Dolma-La Pass.

Day 11: Completing the Kora & Returning to Saga
The Final Steps

We conclude the Kora with a short 8 Km trek (about 2 hours) from Zutalphuk to the point where our coach awaits. We will then drive to Darchen, merge with any group members who rested there, and continue our drive back to Saga (4500m). You will spend the night comfortably at the Saga hotel.

Traveler’s Note: Celebrate your incredible achievement! You have completed the sacred Parikrama. Take time tonight to stretch your legs and reflect on your journey.

Day 12: Journey Back to Gyirung
Retracing Our Steps

After breakfast, we begin the 270 Km drive back to Gyirung County, which will take approximately 7 hours. We will transfer you to your basic hotel in Gyirung for an overnight stay.

Pro-Tip: Before leaving Tibet, ensure you exchange any of your remaining Chinese Yuan currency at the Bank of China in Gyirung county.

Day 13: Crossing the Border to Kathmandu
Return to Nepal

Following breakfast, we drive to the border and complete the necessary formalities on both the China and Nepal sides. We then continue our 200 Km drive (about 8 hours) back to Kathmandu (1300m). You will check into your premium hotel for your final overnight stay.

Traveler’s Note: Enjoy the massive drop in altitude! You will likely feel a surge of energy and breathe much easier as we descend back into the Kathmandu valley.
