Day 1: Arrival in the Spiritual Hub of Kathmandu
Welcome and Yatra Briefing
Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After completing custom formalities and checking in, you will enjoy a short briefing about the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra before dinner. You will spend the night at Hotel Ramada by Wyndham or Western Plus.
Traveler’s Note: Use this evening to rest and hydrate; proper acclimatization begins the moment you land!
Day 2: Kathmandu Temple Visit and Preparations
Exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites
After breakfast, dive into a Kathmandu city sightseeing tour. You will visit the sacred Pasupatinath Temple, the stunning Bouddhanath Stupa, the Jala Narayan Temple (Sleeping Vishnu), and Kathmandu Durbar Square to see the Living God Kumari. Later, we return to the hotel for final packing and Yatra preparation, with an overnight stay at Hotel Mandala Norling Lord Prime.
Pro-Tip: Ensure you have exchanged enough currency today! The unit of Chinese currency is the Yuan, which you will need for personal expenses in Tibet.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Kyirung (1600m)
The Scenic Drive to the Border
Our representative will pick you up for a scenic 145 km drive to Kyirung, which takes about 5 to 6 hours. Upon arrival, you will transfer to a basic guest house for check-in and an overnight stay.
Traveler’s Note: Keep your passport and essential documents easily accessible in your day pack for upcoming border formalities.
Day 4: Kyirung to Gyirung County (2800m)
Crossing the Border into Tibet
Following breakfast, we will complete the immigration and custom formalities on both the Nepal and China sides. We then continue our drive for 35 km (about 1 hour) to Gyirung. You will check into a basic hotel for the night.
Pro-Tip: You can exchange any remaining money at the Bank of China in Kyirung County today; make sure you handle all currency exchange needs before moving to higher altitudes.
Day 5: Acclimatization in Gyirung County (2800m)
Rest and Adjust
Today is entirely dedicated to acclimatization. After breakfast, you are free to explore Gyirung County or do some light shopping. We will stay overnight at our basic hotel.
Traveler’s Note: Do not overexert yourself today. Rest, drink plenty of water, and stay calm to help your body adjust to the 2800m altitude.
Day 6: Gyirung to Saga (4500m)
Crossing the Mighty Brahmaputra
After breakfast, brace yourself for a spectacular 270 km drive to Saga, which takes approximately 6 to 7 hours. Along the way, we will cross the famous Brahmaputra River. We will check into a hotel in Saga for the night.
Pro-Tip: The altitude jumps significantly today. If you experience mild headaches, consult our team about taking a Diamox tablet from your personal medical kit.
Day 7: Saga to the Holy Mansarovar Lake (4550m)
First Glimpse of the Divine Lake
Get ready for a profound spiritual moment as we drive 470 km (8 to 9 hours) towards Mansarovar Lake. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Pramath Ashram guest house.
Traveler’s Note: We intentionally mandate a 2-night stay at this 4550m elevation to ensure proper acclimatization before tackling the higher altitude treks.
Day 8: Mansarovar Parikrama and Drive to Darchen (4600m)
Holy Bath and Rituals
After breakfast, we will complete the 102 km Parikrama of Mansarovar Lake by vehicle, taking around 3 hours. Here, you can take a holy bath and perform Puja and Homa rituals by the lake. Afterward, we take a short 1.5-hour drive to Darchen to check into our basic hotel.
Pro-Tip: The winds at the lake can be piercing. Dress in Gore-Tex materials or a warm down jacket to stay comfortable during your Puja.
Day 9: Yamdwar Darshan & Trek to Diraphuk (4860m)
The First Day of Kailash Kora
Following breakfast, a short drive takes us to Yamdwar, the starting point of the holy Kora. From here, we embark on a 12 km trek (7 to 8 hours) towards Diraphuk, crossing the magnificent west face of Mount Kailash. You will also get to witness the breathtaking North Face. We stay overnight at a basic hotel in Diraphuk.
Traveler’s Note: Keep your day pack light! Carry only essentials like your water bottle, energy snacks, and a camera.
Day 10: Trek to Dolma-La Pass (5630m) & Zutalphuk (4600m)
The Ultimate Spiritual Test
Today marks the most difficult yet rewarding segment of the journey. We trek up to the Dolma-La Pass at a staggering 5630m altitude. After conquering the pass, we descend to Gaurikund and follow the river to Zutalphuk. This 22 km trek takes around 12 hours. We will spend the night at a hotel in Zutalphuk.
Pro-Tip: If you are not participating in the Parikrama, you will trek back to Darchen and wait for the group to finish.
Day 11: Zutalphuk to Darchen and Drive to Saga (4500m)
Completing the Kora
After breakfast, we embark on a short 8 km trek (approx. 2 hours) to the pick-up point. Our coach will drive us back to Darchen to reunite with the rest of the group before continuing our drive to Saga. We will spend the night at a hotel in Saga.

Day 12: Saga to Gyirung County (2800m)
Descending the Himalayas
We begin our descent today with a 270 km drive back to Gyirung, taking roughly 7 hours. We will transfer to our basic hotel for an overnight stay.
Pro-Tip: As we drop in elevation, you will likely find breathing much easier and your appetite returning!
Day 13: Gyirung County to Kathmandu (1300m)
Crossing Back to Nepal
After breakfast, we drive towards Kathmandu. We will complete the Nepal-China border formalities and continue the 200 km, 8-hour journey. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, we will check into Hotel Ramada by Wyndham or Western Plus.
Traveler’s Note: Enjoy your final evening in the bustling streets of Kathmandu, picking up any last-minute souvenirs!
Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
Farewell and Certificates
After breakfast, we will proudly present you with an appreciation certificate for completing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. We will then drop you at the airport for your final departure.
