Day 1: June 22 – Welcome to Phuentsholing
Arrival and Border Crossing
Your journey begins as you arrive at the Bagdogra Airport. From there, we will drive 155 km (approximately 4.5 hours) to Phuentsholing, the bustling Bhutanese border town. After completing the necessary immigration formalities, you will check into your hotel to rest. Enjoy a welcome dinner before your overnight stay in Phuentsholing.
Traveler’s Note: Keep your Passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity) or Voter’s ID easily accessible for the border immigration process.
Day 2: June 23 – The Journey to Thimphu
Waterfalls and Confluences
After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and begin our drive towards Thimphu. Along the way, we will stop at the Milarepa Lhakhang, a peaceful monastery near Kharbandi. You will also enjoy the panoramic mountain views from the Gedu Stupa and snap some photos at the roadside Wangkha Waterfall. We will also witness the Chuzom (Confluence), the beautiful meeting point of the Thimphu and Paro rivers. We will arrive in Thimphu, check-in, and enjoy an overnight stay.
Pro-Tip: The winding mountain roads can be dizzying. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take your medication before the drive, and enjoy the stunning views of the Wangkha Waterfall!
Day 3: June 24 – The Majesty of Punakha
Passes, Temples, and Dzongs
Today we take a 148 km (4.5 hours) round trip to Punakha. After breakfast, we depart and head towards the Dochula Pass (3,100m) to take in the panoramic views and the 108 stupas. We will explore the local vegetable market and take a scenic village walk to Chimi Lhakhang, famously known as the “Fertility Temple”.
The highlight of the day is the majestic Punakha Dzong, a fortress sitting beautifully at the confluence of rivers. We will also walk across Bhutan’s longest Suspension Bridge before returning to Thimphu by evening for our overnight stay.
Traveler’s Note: The Dochula Pass at 3,100m can be quite chilly even in the summer. Dress in light layers to stay comfortable while taking photos of the 108 stupas.
Day 4: June 25 – From Thimphu to Paro
Giant Buddhas and Ancient Preserves
After checking out from our Thimphu hotel, we will visit the massive seated statue at the Great Buddha Dordenma. Next, we explore the ancient hilltop monastery of Changangkha Lhakhang and the National Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal. We will grab some photos at the Thimphu Dzong Viewpoint and visit the Folk Heritage Museum for insights into traditional Bhutanese life.
In the afternoon, we take a short 50 km drive to Paro. Upon arrival, enjoy a serene Paro Riverside Walk and view the Paro Dzong from the Nye Mey Zam Bridge. You can even try on the Bhutanese National Dress (Gho/Kira) and stroll through Paro Town for local handicrafts before checking into your hotel.
Pro-Tip: Paro Town is the perfect place to pick up authentic Bhutanese textiles and souvenirs. Remember to bring some extra cash for shopping!
Day 5: June 26 – The Iconic Tiger’s Nest or Chele La Pass
Choose Your Adventure
Today offers two incredible options for your Paro experience:

We will return to the hotel by evening for our final night in Paro.
Traveler’s Note: If you choose the Tiger’s Nest hike, be aware that lunch expenses are not included today. Pack some high-energy snacks and plenty of water for the steep climb!
