The Scenic Ascent
We kick off the adventure on 30 July 2026 with a morning departure from the Kaloor International Stadium in Ernakulam at 08:30 AM. For our travelers joining along the way, we have scheduled boarding at the Thrissur Mannuthy Bypass at 11:00 AM and the Palakkad Chandranagar Bypass at 12:30 PM.
Dams and Hairpin Bends
We proceed toward Valparai via Pollachi, making a beautiful en-route stop to visit the serene Azhiyar Dam. From there, brace yourself for the highlight of the day: an exhilarating, scenic drive through 40 hairpin bends winding up from Azhiyar to Valparai! Upon arrival in the misty hill station of Valparai, you will check into your hotel to relax and enjoy a cozy overnight stay.
Traveler’s Note: The 40 hairpin bends offer incredible panoramic views, but they can be tricky if you are prone to motion sickness. Take your medication before leaving Azhiyar, and keep your camera ready for the stunning viewpoints along the climb!
Day 2: The Wild Route – Forest Drives and Roaring Waterfalls

Sholayar Dam and the Malakkappara Forest Drive
After a morning check-out from your hotel, we proceed to visit the massive Sholayar Dam. Following this, we embark on a thrilling forest journey via Vazhachal. This Malakkappara forest drive is famous for its dense canopy and occasional wildlife sightings, making it a dream for nature lovers.
The Majestic Athirappilly Waterfalls
The adventure reaches its peak as we arrive at the majestic Athirappilly Waterfalls. Known as the “Niagara of India,” watching these falls in their full monsoon glory is a truly humbling experience.
After soaking in the beauty of the cascades, we will continue our return journey via Chalakudy. We will drop off our Thrissur and Palakkad passengers at Chalakudy, before arriving back in Ernakulam at approximately 07:30 PM.
