Day 2: Journey into the Heart of Bhutan – Thimphu Bound
After a fresh breakfast, we head deeper into the mountains toward Thimphu, the capital city. The drive is a scenic masterpiece featuring:
- Milarepa Lhakhang: A peaceful monastery that sets a spiritual tone.
- Wangkha Waterfall: A photogenic roadside stop for a quick stretch.
- Chuzom: The beautiful confluence where the Thimphu and Paro rivers meet.
Traveler’s Note: The mountain roads are winding. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider keeping light medication ready for the drive.
Day 3: The Fortress of Great Bliss – Punakha Excursion
Today we cross the spectacular Dochula Pass (3,100m), home to 108 memorial stupas and panoramic Himalayan views. Highlights include:
- Chimi Lhakhang: The famous “Fertility Temple” reached via a scenic walk through local villages.
- Punakha Dzong: A majestic fortress located at the junction of two rivers.
- Suspension Bridge: Walk across one of the longest bridges in the country for stunning river views.
Traveler’s Note: At Dochula Pass, the weather can be significantly colder than in the valleys. Bring a warm jacket for this stop.
Day 4: Capital Culture & The Valley of Paro
Before leaving Thimphu, we explore its most iconic landmarks:
- Great Buddha Dordenma: One of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world.
- National Takin Preserve: Meet the Takin, Bhutan’s unique and quirky national animal.
- Folk Heritage Museum: A deep dive into traditional Bhutanese life.

Traveler’s Note: Thimphu is the best place to find unique, high-quality handicrafts. Don’t forget to visit the local markets!.
Day 5: The Icon of Bhutan – Tiger’s Nest or Chele La
Today offers two incredible options for your final day of exploration:
- Option 1: Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Hike: A guided trek to the world-famous monastery clinging to a granite cliff 900 meters above the valley.
- Option 2: Chele La Pass: A drive to the highest motorable road in Bhutan (3,988m) for views of Mt. Jomolhari.
- Meal Plan: Breakfast and Dinner (Lunch is excluded on the hike day).
Traveler’s Note: The Tiger’s Nest hike is moderately challenging. Take your time, stay hydrated, and use a walking stick.
Day 6: Farewell to the Kingdom – Paro to Siliguri
We begin our descent back to the plains, stopping at the Paro Airport Viewpoint for a final look at the valley. We cross back through Phuentsholing and head to Siliguri for our final overnight stay.
Traveler’s Note: This is a long day of travel. Charge your devices and have a good book or playlist ready for the drive.
Day 7: Homeward Bound – Departure
After breakfast, we transfer you to Bagdogra Airport for your flight back home, carrying a heart full of memories and a soul full of happiness.
