Day 1: Crossing the Threshold – Arrival & Phuentsholing

Your adventure begins at Bagdogra Airport, the gateway to the hills. From here, we drive to the vibrant border town of Phuentsholing. After completing immigration formalities, you can finally step into the “Land of the Thunder Dragon”.

  • Transfer: Scenic drive from Bagdogra to the Bhutan border.
  • Evening: Settle into your hotel and enjoy your first authentic Bhutanese dinner.

Traveler’s Note: Keep your original Passport (with 6 months validity) or Voter ID handy for a smooth immigration process at the border.

Day 2: Into the Heart of the Mountains – Phuentsholing to Thimphu

After breakfast, we leave the border behind and ascend toward Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. The drive is punctuated by stunning landmarks that showcase the country’s spiritual and natural wealth.

  • Milarepa Lhakhang: Visit this peaceful monastery near Kharbandi.
  • Wangkha Waterfall: A photogenic roadside stop perfect for quick clicks.
  • Chuzom: Witness the beautiful confluence where the Thimphu and Paro rivers meet.

Traveler’s Note: The drive to Thimphu involves winding mountain roads. If you are prone to motion sickness, carry appropriate medication to enjoy the panoramic views comfortably.

Day 3: Valleys of Majesty – Punakha Excursion

Today, we travel from Thimphu to the sub-tropical valley of Punakha, crossing the legendary Dochula Pass.

  • Dochula Pass (3,100m): Marvel at the 108 memorial stupas and, on a clear day, the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
  • Chimi Lhakhang: Take a scenic walk through rice fields to visit the famous “Fertility Temple”.
  • Punakha Dzong: Explore one of Bhutan’s most majestic fortresses, strategically placed at the fork of two rivers.
  • Suspension Bridge: Walk across Bhutan’s longest bridge for incredible valley views.

Traveler’s Note: The Punakha valley is lower in altitude and warmer than Thimphu. Dress in light layers to stay comfortable throughout the day.

Day 4: Capital Culture – Thimphu to Paro

Before heading to Paro, we explore the cultural landmarks of Thimphu.

  • Great Buddha Dordenma: Stand in awe before one of the largest Buddha statues in the world.
  • National Takin Preserve: Meet the Takin, Bhutan’s unique and quirky national animal.
  • Folk Heritage Museum: Step back in time to see traditional Bhutanese rural life.
  • Paro Riverside: End the day with a serene walk along the river in Paro.

Traveler’s Note: Don’t miss the chance to try on the Gho (for men) or Kira (for women), the elegant national dress of Bhutan—it’s the perfect photo op!

Day 5: The Icon or the Heights – Tiger’s Nest or Chele La

Today offers a choice between a spiritual pilgrimage or a journey to Bhutan’s highest motorable road.

  • Option 1: Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Hike: A guided trek to the iconic monastery clinging to a cliffside 900 meters above the valley floor.
  • Option 2: Chele La Pass: A drive to 3,988 meters for breathtaking views of Mt. Jomolhari and peaceful nature walks.

Traveler’s Note: The Tiger’s Nest hike takes a full day and requires moderate fitness. Remember, lunch on this day is not included in the standard meal plan.

Day 6: Final Panoramas – Paro to Siliguri

Say your farewells to the mountains. After a final stop at the Paro Airport Viewpoint, we drive back toward the plains.

  • Return Journey: Descend back to Phuentsholing and cross into India to reach Siliguri.
  • Evening: Relax at your hotel in Siliguri for your final night of the tour.

Traveler’s Note: The Paro Airport Viewpoint offers one of the most thrilling views of mountain aviation—watch as pilots navigate the narrow valley for takeoff.

Day 7: Journey’s End – Departure

After breakfast, we transfer you to Bagdogra Airport for your flight back home, carrying memories of the “Land of Happiness” that will last a lifetime.
