05 SEP Manimahesh Yathra

Are you ready to embark on a deeply spiritual journey that tests your endurance and rewards your soul? The Manimahesh Yatra is a profound pilgrimage to the pristine Manimahesh Lake, situated at a breathtaking altitude of 4115m right at the base of the majestic Manimahesh Kailash Peak. Often compared to the Mount Kailash or Lake Mansarovar pilgrimages, this sacred trek is the ultimate journey to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Join Team Yathri Holidays on an unforgettable 6-night, 7-day expedition through the rugged, divine landscapes of Himachal Pradesh. Let’s walk the path of devotion together!

Day 1: Arrival in the Golden City

Your spiritual expedition begins with your arrival in Punjab.

Touching Down in Amritsar

Our journey officially starts on 05 SEP 2026. Upon your arrival at the Amritsar Airport, our team will pick you up and transfer you directly to a comfortable 3-star hotel. Take the evening to rest, mentally prepare for the high-altitude Manimahesh Lake trek, and enjoy a hearty dinner before your overnight stay in Amritsar.

Traveler’s Note: Make sure you hydrate well today. Proper hydration starting before you even reach high altitudes is one of the best ways to prevent mountain sickness!

Day 2: The Journey to the Land of Shiva

Today, we transition from the plains to the magnificent mountains of Himachal Pradesh.

Amritsar to Bharmour and Bharmani Mata Temple

After breakfast, we depart from Amritsar and embark on a scenic 300 km drive (approximately 8 to 9 hours) to the ancient town of Bharmour. Upon reaching, we undertake a crucial part of the pilgrimage: a 4 km visit to the Bharmani Mata Temple, which can be done by taxi or walking.

Legend states that taking a dip in Brahmani’s pool is absolutely mandatory before visiting Manimahesh Lake; without it, the Manimahesh Kailash pilgrimage is considered incomplete! After this sacred visit, we will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Deluxe rooms in Bharmour.

Pro-Tip: Pack a lightweight, quick-drying towel and a change of clothes in your daypack specifically for the holy bath at the Bharmani Mata Temple pool.

Day 3: Stepping onto the Sacred Trail

It is time to lace up your trekking boots and hit the trail!

Trekking from Hadsar to Dhanchoo

In the morning, we take a 13 km vehicle ride from Bharmour to Hadsar, the official starting point of the trek. From Hadsar, we begin our 6 km ascent to Dhanchoo (2900m). The trail climbs alongside the Gauri stream through dense forests, eventually opening up to alpine meadows and stunning waterfalls.

While the first 2 km is gradual, the climb to Dhanchoo becomes quite steep and tiring, requiring us to cross two small, safe glaciers. Along the way—and especially at Dhanchoo—you will find fantastic Langar (free food) facilities provided by selfless Sewaks. We will spend the night resting in tents at Dhanchoo.

Traveler’s Note: Pace yourself! The steep ascent just before Dhanchoo can be exhausting. Take small, consistent steps and rely on the delicious Langar tea to keep your energy up.

Day 4: Reaching the Divine Heights

This is the most challenging, yet spiritually rewarding, day of the entire journey.

Dhanchoo to Manimahesh Lake via Gauri Kund

We start early for our 7 km trek from Dhanchoo to Manimahesh. You have the option to take the older, steeper “Bandar Ghati” route or the newer, slightly longer mule track (where horses/mules are available).

As we trek, we will pass Shiv ka Gharaat (the mythological flour mill of Lord Shiva), where the sound of flowing water echoes from within dry rocks. We then navigate past Sundrasi and quickly cross the steep, rockfall-prone Bharon Ghati.

Our next stop is Gauri Kund, where only women are permitted to take a holy dip, honoring Goddess Parvati. From here, it is a final 1.5 km climb to the holy Manimahesh Lake. Here, you will witness the stunning four-faced marble Shivling and catch a glorious glimpse of the Kailash Parbat. We will spend the night in tents near the sacred lake.

Pro-Tip: The altitude at the lake is over 4000 meters. The air is thin, and the nights are freezing. Layer up in thermal wear immediately upon arriving at the camp to retain your body heat!

Day 5: Descending with Blessings

With our hearts full of divine blessings, we begin our descent.

Manimahesh to Bharmour

After spending some peaceful morning moments at Manimahesh, we start our trek back down to Hadsar. Once we complete the downhill trek, a vehicle will be waiting to take us on the 13 km road journey back to Bharmour. You will enjoy a warm dinner and a much-deserved, comfortable overnight stay in Bharmour.

Traveler’s Note: Downhill trekking puts significant strain on your knees and toes. Make sure your shoelaces are tied tightly to prevent your toes from hitting the front of your boots, and consider using a trekking pole for balance!

Day 6: Ancient Temples and Return to Punjab

Before leaving the mountains, we dive into the rich history of Bharmour.

Chaurasi Temple Complex to Amritsar

We start the day by visiting the spectacular Chaurasi Temple complex in the center of Bharmour. Built around 1400 years ago, this complex houses exactly 84 big and small temples, honoring the 84 yogis who visited King Sahil Varman and blessed him with ten sons and a daughter.

After exploring this clean, scenic, and historic site, we begin our drive back to Amritsar in the afternoon. We conclude the day with a farewell dinner and an overnight stay at our Amritsar hotel.

Pro-Tip: The Chaurasi Temple complex, with its stunning collection of ancient Shivlingas, is a photographer’s dream. Capture the beautiful morning light hitting the temple structures!

Day 7: Homeward Bound
Departure from Amritsar

Enjoy a final breakfast with your fellow yatris before checking out. We will drop you off at the Amritsar Airport or Railway station in time for your onward journey. The tour ends here, sending you home with the divine blessings of Lord Shiva.
