Day 1: Kochi to Srinagar – The Adventure Begins

Your journey to the crown of India starts with a flight from Kochi to Srinagar.

Arrival in the Valley

Upon arriving in Srinagar, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred directly to your hotel. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatizing to the new environment before an overnight stay in Srinagar, complete with a hearty dinner.

Pro-Tip: Mountain travel requires good rest. Use this first evening to relax, hydrate, and prepare your body for the higher altitudes to come!

Day 2: Srinagar to Kargil – Meadows of Gold & War Heroes

Get ready to hit the road and witness some of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.

The Gateway of Ladakh

After breakfast, we proceed to Kargil, famously known as the Gateway of Ladakh, via Sonmarg. Sonamarg translates to the “meadow of gold,” and its snow-covered mountains are a breathtaking sight. During this stretch, you will visit Vishansar Lake, navigate the thrilling Zoji La Pass, and halt at the Shutkari Bridge.

Honoring the Brave

Continuing the road trip, we pass through Drass Valley. This is the exact location of the Kargil war, where you can see where the Pakistani Army dropped shells. We will then enter Kargil for an overnight stay.

Traveler’s Note: The drive through Zoji La Pass is as thrilling as it is beautiful. Keep your cameras ready for those dramatic mountain drops!

Day 3: Kargil to Leh – Magnetic Hills & Moon Landscapes

Today’s drive is packed with ancient monasteries, optical illusions, and natural wonders.

Monasteries and Confluences

Leaving Kargil after breakfast, we visit Mulbekh to see the Giant Living Buddha Sculpture carved into the rock mountain. We also visit Lamayuru, one of Ladakh’s oldest monasteries, boasting a surreal Moon Landscape.

The Sham Valley Route

After a hot lunch in Khaltse, we head towards Leh. En route, you will witness the beauty of Sham Valley, the gravity-defying Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the stunning Indus-Zanskar river confluence. After reaching Leh in the evening, we will visit the War Memorial and Shanti Stupa before our overnight stay.

Pro-Tip: When you reach Magnetic Hill, ask your driver to switch off the engine and leave the vehicle in neutral to experience the magnetic pull for yourself!

Day 4: Leh to Nubra Valley – The Highest Motorable Road

Prepare to ascend to the top of the world as we execute the highly anticipated Nubra Valley itinerary.

Conquering Khardungla Pass

After breakfast, we drive to Nubra Valley via the legendary Khardungla Pass. Situated at a staggering 18,379 ft. above sea level, it is one of the highest motorable roads in the world, making you feel like you are at the absolute top of the world!

Sand Dunes and Giant Buddhas

We arrive at Hundar by afternoon and enjoy lunch at the camp. You are then free to explore Deskit, Hundar Village, and enjoy a unique Camel Safari in the sand dunes. We will also visit the Diskit Monastery to marvel at the Giant Statue of Maitreya Buddha and take in magnificent views of the valley before staying overnight in Nubra Valley.

Traveler’s Note: The air at Khardungla Pass is very thin. Move slowly, avoid overexerting yourself, and savor the incredible achievement of reaching 18,379 feet!

Day 5: Nubra to Pangong Lake to Leh – The Sapphire Waters

Today, you will lay eyes on one of the most famous and breathtaking lakes in all of Asia.

The Highest Saltwater Lake

Following breakfast, we check out and head to Pangong Lake. Sitting at 14,500 ft, Pangong is the highest saltwater lake in the world and is famously shared by two countries: India and China.

The Changla Pass Return

After soaking in the mesmerizing blue waters, we return to Leh via Changla Pass. At 17,350 ft, this is the second-highest motorable road after Khardungla. We conclude the day with an overnight stay in Leh.

Pro-Tip: The weather at Pangong Lake can be highly unpredictable and extremely windy. Always keep a heavy windcheater or jacket easily accessible in your daypack!

Day 6: Leh Local Sightseeing – Culture & Heritage

Take a break from the long drives to immerse yourself in the local culture of Leh.

Exploring the Capital

This day is dedicated to local sightseeing. We will explore the historic Leh Palace, visit the War Memorial Hall and Shanti Stupa, and dive into history at the Leh Museum. You will also have time to stroll through the vibrant Leh Market before retiring for an overnight stay in Leh.

Traveler’s Note: The Leh Market is the perfect place to pick up authentic souvenirs, Tibetan handicrafts, and local snacks. Don’t forget to practice your bargaining skills!

Day 7: Leh to Jispa – Valleys and Meadows

We begin our descent back through the Himalayas, trading high-altitude deserts for lush greenery.

The Taglangla Route

Morning kicks off with a journey towards Jispa via Taglangla. This route is considered one of the most beautiful in the Himalayan sector. You will witness an amazing, picturesque parade of deep valleys and expansive meadows. The day ends with an overnight stay in Jispa.
